The Story and News of Bayshore Beach Club’s Mobi Mat
Read about the story of Bayshore Beach Club’s Mobi Mat from the Lincoln Chronicle’s May 29, 2025 story here.
“Thanks to the Bayshore Beach Club and the Oregon Coast Visitors Association, people with mobility issues can now wheel or walk safely right down to the shore on a series of roll-out mats called Mobi-Mats. Seven connectable mats, each five feet wide and 50 feet long, extend from Oceania Drive near a new parking lot at the corner of Cunard Street, down to the high-water mark of the sea.

“It’s beautiful here. Everyone should be able to enjoy it,” says Kenn Apel, chair of Bayshore’s beach access committee and the prime mover of the campaign. Bayshore is a residential community managed by volunteer members.”

Dear Members,
Mobi-Mat season has officially begun! Thanks to Jeff Moorhead, Bernie Williams, and Dave Smith spending almost 3 hours working to install the mats, they are ready for use. Also, a special thanks to Kirk McClain, Bayshore Facilities Manager, for bringing the mats out of storage so they could be laid down.
This year there is a side mat at the beach end of the mats in case someone who can’t get out to the ocean wishes to “pull over” and watch the waves.
